Whitefish Skiers Qualify to Championship Races
A season of preparation, dedication and elite performance has paid dividends for the members of Whitefish Mountain Race Team. All of the team was rewarded with great gains in technique and performance. The strong Whitefish Team also qualified skiers to 4 different championship series to compete against skiers from the entire Western Region of the U.S.

Erin Tabish, one of three qualifiers from the Northern Division of USSA recently competed in the Western Division Jr. 4 Festival at Bogus Basin ID. Tabish capped an already strong season, she finished an 8th in the slalom, 9th in the SG and 13th in the GS events held at Bogus Basin, Idaho. For information on race results check out www.ussa.org and www.live-timing.com

Michela Millette, also an elite soccer player, was chosen as a Northern Division qualifier to the Western Division Junior 3 Olympics also held at Bogus Basin. Millette is one of 6 Northern Division women chosen for the Junior Olympics.

Drew Lewis, Bert Palagi, and Dave Loman qualified for the elite Western Region Junior Championships currently being held in Bend, Oregon. Lewis and Palagi were both recognized as the best male skiers of the Northern Division Series for performance in their respective age groups.

Whitefish resident, Wes Beougher, and Aaron Oberlitner from Kalispell qualified for the Western Region Technical Finals, held in Park City, Utah. Beougher, Oberlitner and Loman were unable to attend their respective events due to schedule conflicts.

Following these races some Whitefish Team members have qualified to the coveted Spring Series a four discipline event at Mammoth Mountain in California and a two discipline technical series at Mt Hood Meadows in Oregon.

Beougher, Lewis and Loman all plan to move their racing to the college level for the coming ski season.

We had excellent technical and gate training all season long. In addition to the technical training we were blessed with some awesome powder skiing. We love ski racing but hey, it's not always about the gates!

Plans for the 2008/09 season are currently underway for the Whitefish skiers with tentative plans for Summer Ski Camps at Oregon's Timberline Resort in late June and early August. Summer and Fall Dryland plans are underway as well. For more details contact Head Coach, Roy Loman: royl@skiwhitefish.com or (406) 862 2912.
